Xaquixe is a glass innovation studio in Oaxaca, Mexico that has developed clean energy technologies to reduce the emissions and costs of artisan production.
GLASS INNOVATION STUDIO
Xaquixe is a pioneer in the exploitation of clean energy. Their furnaces burn waste kitchen oil that is collected from hotels and restaurants of Oaxaca. Glass from used bottles is collected, washed and crushed to be recycled in the production of vases, jars, glasses and other blown glass pieces. More recently, Xaquixe has developed a biodigesting facility to use organic waste to generate methane to be used in place of propane in the furnaces.
Procesos Proambientales Xaquixe (PPX), the affiliated research arm of Xaquixe, produces ceramic ovens, biodigestors, and distillation technology based on renewable and clean energy innovations developed by PPX to replace the use of fossil fuels.
PPX is seeking philanthropic capital to complete its training center and an investment partner to provide financing for the purchase and implementation of these technologies by artisan enterprises.
